How to find The Barn in Purley

 

The Barn is an eighteenth Century manorial barn which has timbers re-used from the Elizabethan Manor House. It is now located adjacent to the Goosecroft Recreation Ground in Purley on Thames.

Approaching from Reading

Follow the A329 towards Pangbourne. After passing the traffic lights at the foot of Long Lane you will come to a roundabout – carry on straight across and then take an immediate left into Beech Road. The first turning is for the Barn named Goosecroft Lane. The Barn car park is the first on the right.

Approaching from Pangbourne

Follow the A329 towards Reading. After you pass the start of the 30mph limit turn immediately right up the hill into Beech Road. After about a quarter of a mile take the first turn right into Goosecroft Lane. The Barn car park is the first on the right.

By Bus

Reading Buses service 142 (from Woodcote) and Thames Travel service 133 (from Goring) provide an hourly service between Reading and Pangbourne. Alight at the Purley Post Office stop which is between the roundabout and the traffic lights. Walk back about 100 yards towards Pangbourne and take Beech Road to your left, then again left into Gooscroft Lane. The Barn is on your right.

There is a 20 minute service with Reading Buses service 16 which drops you at the top of New Hill (The next stop after the Knowsley Road roundabout.) carry on towards Pangbourne for about half a mile passing the trafic lights and the Sherwood Rise roundabout. Then as for the 133/142 services.
